About Aerial Yoga

Aerial Yoga can be used as both a Yin practice; encouraging weightless release, slow movement, long holds, and a Yang practice; building strength to transcend ones preconceived notion of their bodies ability, increasing movement and heat in the body. All by using traditional Yoga Postures in reimagined ways.

Building Strength
Stretch + Release

An aerial yoga belt practice is a great way to build and maintain strength and functional fitness. Using variations of traditional postures and an Aerial Yoga Belt, working with our own body weight we readily access working with the core, longer holds and more reps without overloading the joints or compressing the spine.
Working with targeted routines and flows we can work toward strengthening areas of the body that need strength or rehabilitation, while being supported by the belt as strength develops. In addition to this the belt may serve to advance a posture by adding different elements of suspension to work the body further. Many postures are performed with an element of contact to the ground rather than in total suspension.

Rehabilitation
Aerial Yoga Hammock practice enables you to decompress mentally, emotionally, and physically while enjoying the yoga postures floating knee to hip height away from the floor. Allowing the breadth of the fabric to hold you in a variance of ways through flows and inversions, one can find a calmness in trusting the process and invigoration in being off the ground.
Inversions supported by the hammock and bolsters serve to elongate and decompress the spine, easing lower back and neck tension. Passive wraps and slow movement serve to massage the muscles and tissues to promote deep release. Long holds and deep breathing serve to regulate the nervous system and elongate the muscles.

Practice with the Belt or Hammock can be optimum for anybody recovering from injuries that effect weight baring to the joints. Aerial Yoga can aid in gently rehabilitating and building strength with support, or take the pressure completely off.
Inversions and promotion of lymphatic drainage can aid in reducing inflammation making Aerial a perfect practice for anyone suffering chronic pain, joint degeneration, and injury related weakness or stress.
